How on earth does one plan for such a mad endeavour?

I’m glad you asked!

I didn’t!

Well, okay, I planned a bit, and mostly found out that the majority of my dreams were impossible, starting with the actual ride down – you have to take a boat where the highway ends at the Darien. After gathering up the shards of my dream I glued it back into a hodgepodge of landmarks and people with the help of the internet! Internet, I love you.

These sites have been great at helping me with local contacts and pertinent information.

Moto-specific

http://www.KLR650.net – THE resource for KLR riders, and a great network of solid folk as well. I have a slightly censored version of the report here 🙂

http://www.advrider.com – Just like KLR650 but not bike specific, much bigger network. I have a slightly censored version of the report here as well!

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com – A wealth of information and resources in a website that has almost too much information for world moto travellers!

Accomodations:

http://www.couchsurfing.org – Not really just for accommodations, I have met some of the coolest people in the world (really!) on this site.

Points of Interest

http://www.uer.ca – an insular community of photographers, explorers, troublemakers and enlightened wonderers. Hard to crack the surface sometimes but an invaluable resource for the traveller interested in seeing things most locals don’t even get to check out.

Here’s a link to the HUBB so they link back to me!
